For many people, Dailymotion updates the world around us. The site and others like that allow you to spend an hour of light relaxation, news, entertainment, or an hour we need to work. A few videos are either enough to ask to keep. Today, you’re going to learn how to download videos from Dailymotion.
Dailymotion and other video platforms use the HTML5 format for their videos. Although they have different websites and look different and feel different, the underlying technology is mostly the same.
This makes life a little easier as we can use most of the same tools to download videos from anyone.
One warning is that Dailymotion has blocked some of these download services and that other sites have been blocked. There may be a small trial and error when downloading your video.
When a technique fails on a video site, it may work elsewhere. So we’re providing a few ways to download videos from Dailymotion and other video platforms.
Download Videos from Dailymotion
Where you see Dailymotion, YouTube, Vimeo, and many other websites, one or more of the following techniques will work on most of them.
Savefrom.net is my site for downloading Dailymotion videos. It’s fast, easy to use, and doesn’t try to convince you to cheat or buy software or anything else.
All you need to do is paste the URL of the page with the video, and it will do the rest of the job.
It analyzes the page, captures the video, and presents it for download in various resolutions depending on the video. Downloads are fast, and soon you will have an MP4 copy of the video on your device.
OnlineVideoConverter is an alternative to working with Savefrom.net, Dailymotion. Some videos can be downloaded immediately.
Some only work if you use permalink from the Share tab on the video page. Some don’t work at all. If you do not want to download an application and Savefrom.net is busy, you can try it.
Use a Browser Extension to Download Dailymotion Videos
There are several browser extensions that work very well. A download, though, is a small browser—the two we use with most Dailymotion videos as well as videos from other platforms.
Dailymotion Video Downloader for Chrome
Dailymotion Video Downloader for Chrome does exactly what it says. Set it up to Chrome and it lets you download videos. There is also an Opera and Yandex version.
The extension works well because you are asked to verify the video before using it, and if the video is not named correctly, you can rename the video as soon as it is downloaded, and everything works fine.
NetVideoHunter for Firefox
NetVideoHunter does the same thing except for Firefox. The only download extension that I could find consistently running for Dailymotion. It also works with other video websites that are a bonus.
The extension offers multiple formats and works well. Although updates are slow, if you update Firefox and the plug-in stops working, uninstall and reinstall it. I had to do this for Firefox 57, but it all works now.
Use VLC to Download Videos From Dailymotion
I wouldn’t go far enough to say it was the best media player on the Internet, no cap. This is also free. In addition to the media you upload locally, you can also access and download online videos.
- Download the VLC if you haven’t already done so.
- Select Media from the top menu.
- Select Open Network Streaming and paste the video URL into the box, and press Play.
- Start the video and then select Tools from the menu, then Codec Info.
- Copy the URL at the bottom of the info window and paste it into your browser. The video is automatically downloaded or enabled for the Save As… dialog box by right-clicking.
Conclusion on Downloading Dailymotion Videos
I will be honest; there is rarely a song, commentary, or something that I rarely want to keep, that I rarely see anything on Dailymotion, but very rarely, I want to go back without searching.
Any of the above tools will download videos from Dailymotion, YouTube, Vimeo, and other video sites, but may need some trial and error. But we still expect you to have a good run with them.
